ASV Travel Awards

Student Travel Award

Application Deadline: February 3, 2020
  • These $500 fellowships are provided by the American Society for Virology to aid students in presenting their experimental results at the annual meeting of the Society.

  • A limited number of awards will be awarded to undergraduate students. Only graduate students and undergraduate students who are members of ASV are eligible for an award.

  • Applications from students presenting in the area of plant virology will be considered for the Plant Virology Club’s Milt Zaitlin Student Travel Award.

Global Scholar Applications

Application Deadline: January 13, 2020

  • The ASV has established the Global Scholar in Virology Awards to provide financial support for talented virologists working around the world to attend and present their work at the ASV annual meeting.

  • The award will cover actual expenses up to $2,500, including airfare. The airfare will be purchased for the awardee by the ASV office.

  • The award is open to scientists at all academic levels, but preference will be given to those who are at a level equivalent to Assistant Professor and who present their work at this meeting.

  • This application should include an abstract of research to be presented either as a talk or as poster at the ASV annual meeting.

Teacher of Undergraduate Students of Virology Travel Award

Application Deadline: February 3, 2020
  • A limited number of travel awards ($1,000) are available to teachers of undergraduate virology students to help defray the costs of attending the ASV annual meeting.
  • These awards will be made to those who are actively engaged in teaching and who might benefit professionally from attending the ASV meeting.
  • Neither ASV membership nor abstract submission are required.

Postdoc Travel Award

Application Deadline: February 3, 2020
  • $500 fellowships are provided by the American Society for Virology to aid postdoctoral trainees to present their experimental results at the annual meeting of the Society.
  • These fellowships are meant to support individuals who have received their Ph.D. degree with the past 4 years.
