ASV Travel Awards

Travel award applications for ASV 2025 will open in December 2024. Students and postdocs must submit an abstract first and provide the abstract ID. Only applicants who are the presenting authors on the abstract are eligible to apply for a travel award.

Note: Membership is not required for Teacher of Undergraduate Virology awards.

These awards are for students who are the presenting author on an abstract submitted for ASV 2025 and who are current ASV members (dues paid for 2025).

Awardees receive waived registration fees for the annual meeting.

These awards are for postdoctoral scholars who are the presenting author on an abstract submitted for ASV 2025 and whose a current ASV membership (dues paid for 2025).

This $1,000 award is for teachers of undergraduate virology who are actively engaged in teaching and who might benefit professionally from attending the ASV meeting. Neither ASV membership nor abstract submission are required to receive this award

ASV Global Scholar Travel Award

Applications for the ASV Global Scholar Award will open November 2024.

Deadline: Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. EST 

ASV has established the Global Scholar Travel Award to provide financial support for talented virologists working around the world to attend and present their work at the ASV annual meeting. This award is for Global Virology Scholars to attend the annual ASV meeting, covering registration, accommodations, and travel expenses.

Eligibility

  • To be eligible, applicants must be performing research activities in low to middle income countries as defined by Wellcome using criteria from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
  • Previous ASV Global Scholar awardees are eligible to apply, but an individual can only receive the award every other year.
  • The award is open to scientists at all academic levels, but preference will be given to those who are at a level equivalent to Assistant Professor and who present their work at this meeting.
